THREE Cessnock road maintenance jobs will be postponed so the city council can spend $1.2 million upgrading a 1.6 kilometre stretch of Blackhill Road, Blackhill.
Councillors accepted a tender last night by Daracon Engineering to rebuild Blackhill Road from its intersection with John Renshaw Drive to 600 metres south-east of the Browns Road intersection. A report by council contracts engineer Renae Leayr said work in Darwin Street, Cessnock, Deasys Road, Pokolbin, and on the bridge culvert on Mount View Road would be delayed.
